Michael Valdes

Originally from Del Rio, Texas, Michael Valdes has called San Antonio home since 1987. He attended the University of Texas at San Antonio and received a Bachelors Degree in Philosophy. He also received an Associates degree in Radio-TV-Film from San Antonio College.

After interning at both KSAT-TV and KMOL-TV (now WOAI) in San Antonio, Valdes got his first on-air position at KMID-TV, the ABC affiliate in Midland, Texas in the fall of 1994. He was there for four months before getting a chance to return to the Alamo City.

Valdes is one of the original members on the FOX News at Nine team that made its debut in March of 1995. Hired as a reporter, Valdes was named the weekend anchor six months later. He was then promoted to weekday anchor in March of 2000.

Michael spends most of his off time with his wife Laura, and two young sons, Isaiah and Elias. He also owns a small business and remains a life-long fan of the Cowboys, Longhorns, and Spurs.
